trying to adopt

HI my husband and i are homestudy approved and updated, but we are not doing international adoption, it cost to much, although if i had the money i would but i don't, however we still have much love to give to a child and very much so want one, we have none. I saw a post that stated that the adoption of babies and children are looking for AA or Biracial couples, there was an 800 number to call, well i have not called yet but i wanted to know have any one ever heard of this and is it very expensive? we don't have a lot of money to spend in paying for getting the child we want a child and have the money to spend on the child and its up bringing. Can anyone please tell me what this is about before i call, I don't want to seem like i don't know what they are talking about when i call. I wish that i knew some birthmoms who was thinking about adoption, I would love to adopt there child and help them as much as i can but its hard, I am not with a private agencey, and i have been looking around but nothing yet, when will this get easier?

What state do you live in? Have you tried your local governmental agency(Child Protective Services). They usually have a lot of african american children available for adoption. I have already adopted two and it costed me about $200 per child and the government will pay me for the next 16-17years for adopting an african american children. And i frequently get calls for other kids that unforturnely have to turn away.

Concerning your question about the 800 number. If the number is for a facilitation or referral service, please keep in mind that you need to know your own state's laws about facilitation and referrals.

If your state does not allow these......the costs can often be much, much higher than an agency. If facilitation is not allowed by law, you would have to pay the facilitator's fee PLUS (not shouting, just emphasis) a licenced agency's placement fee----and that's if it can even be done legally.

In our state, facilitation is not legal.....however, if a referral network gives our profile to a situation from a licensed agency or attorney, then it can be done legally. However, the referring person's fee will be paid on top of any agency fees.

Bottom line: You have to research and do your homework.

Sincerely,

Linny
