We are considering adopting from DRC. Any experience/information with agencies, or general info on adoption from DRC, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
My husband and I are just beginning our DRC adoption. The agencies that I am aware of are: One World Adoption Services, MLJ, and Love Beyond Borders. Hope this helps. Gin |

Two other agencies in DRC not mentioned are Wasatch and Children of all Nations. I have lots of DRC info if anyone is interested.

Hi Max, I would love to get more information on DRC. Would you happen to know if their five year marriage requirement can be waived? (We are three years married, dating four and a half).

I am not familiar with that requirement (wasn't issue for us). Generally speaking, I would be surprised if that could not be waived in DRC. Almost all such requirements that I have seen are waivable as long the family is solid. They exist to give places excuses by and large. For example there is a two child rule which states you cant have more than two kids already. This is easily waivable.

It can be waived. Most agencies I contacted do not have any problem coordinating this and have worked with other couple married less than 5 years.

DR Congo and Little Miracles
Hello all - I'm brand new here and excited to share info.
I am a single woman adopting from the DR Congo and it looks like I'll be working through Little Miracles. They just opened their pilot program and seem to be having success. Has anyone worked with Little Miracles or have any info on them? Thanks |

Suggestions
My husband and I have decided to adopt from DRC as well. Please email me leah.ferraro@gmail.com with suggestions for agency that you have personally used and been satisfied with. We are having trouble determining which agency would be the best for us.

Hi Pavia98,
I am curious to your experience so far? I am also a single woman looking to adopt, and am trying to find a stable program that accepts singles. I am interested in DR Congo. Thanks for any information/experience you can provide! |

Our experience has been a journey, as all adoption stories, i believe, are. Being single is not an issue from a DRC stance and I believe that most agencies do not have an issue with it either, but every agency makes their own rules. I am in contact with another single woman who is working towards a DRC adoption and contemplating doing it without an agency (which can be done). Id be happy to chat with you further if you are interested. Send me a PM if you like.
