Heart Canadian wanting to adopt - any info???

Is anyone familiar with the processes required from the Canadian side of the border? I am planning a trip to Africa in June and would like to visit a few orphanages and within the next couple of years bring home a child. My husband and I have two bio girls and our dream is to bring home a little girl or boy from Africa to add to our life. Has anyone gone through this process or know of an appropriate agency to use?

hi,
I am currently waiting for a referral from Ethiopia.
The wait for referral varies widly, from 2 m to 12 m depending on which agency you use and what age group you request.
I am not sure how you would arrange to visit Orphanages in Africa???? And you can't do a private adoption in Ethiopia...must use one of the two agencies. Once you get your refferal its 3-6 months until you travel.
The costs are right around 20,000.
Feel free to PM me with any questions.
Louise

You can also adopt from South Africa - wait times are getting shorter - babies are healthy and young (3-6 months).

Cost is about $20,000 total.

Feel free to PM me with questions....

Keep in mind it is illegal for Canadians to travel abroad with the intention of looking for a child to adopt...just a heads up...

Good luck!
