Adopting a Child Of Kenyan Heritage
Our family has been chosen by a young couple to adopt their son who will be born soon. Both parents are from Kenya temporarily in the U.S.,and the baby will be born here. This will almost be like an international adoption, but without the travel & other concerns.
We are hoping to get insight from others who have adopted across cultural and ethnic lines. This is a first such journey for our family. We have 2 wonderful daughters by way of domestic adoptions, they are caucasian. Any information and resources shared would be welcome. We expect this adoption to be open with contact & visits while the birth parents are in the U.S., and letters and calls when they return to Kenya. Thanks, Peanut |

Well our little boy Carson was born Jan. 17th 2004 & he has been home now for little over 3 weeks! He is a doll, we just love him & the girls are so proud of their baby brother.
I am still interested in hearing from other families who have adopted same race and also interracially for their experiences. Please check out little Carson's valentines day pic! God bless, Peanut |

Your son of Kenyan heritage
Hi Peanut.
I know it's been a while since your son was born and joined your family, but I just came across your post and wanted to respond. My son was also born to Kenyan parents in the United States. I've been searching for other families with a similar situation. My son was born in December of 2006, and we have a great relationship with his birthmother. Carson is adorable (at least in the newborn picture you shared)! I'd love to hear more from you and how your journey has been since you wrote in 2004! Anne p.s. I've attached a recent pic of my son |
