I was just speaking with an agency and when I mentioned that I would like to adopt an infant as young as possible they said I should be looking at South Africa. Has anyone adopted from there?

I see you are from Canada??? (ON - Ontario? - it's where my FIL was born).

We adopted (U.S.) from South Africa 2 1/2 years ago - I know that S.A. is now closed to future adoption by U.S. citizens, but don't know the Canadian laws.

What I do know - is that they have a lot of babies dropped off in the middle of the night at orphanages. We did a private adoption, and I know that their birthMom had 60 days to re-consider her decision. I'm not sure exactly how the orphanages work, but will help anyway I can. I know of a couple of families who adopted through an orphanage shortly after we did and I believe the children were about 4 months old.

hi, we've just started the adoption process in australia and were told south africa would be accepting files possibly by the end of the year... after searching australian sites for info to no avail.. i'm just curious if there is any information in regards to this being a possibility as we want to adopt from primarily s.a....
