Liberia Adoption
Hi
I adopted my little puddin' from Liberia! Any one adopting from Africa and debating which country...I would strongly suggest Liberia. Most of the children's parents died in the war and they are craving love.. I added a picture for you to see my preciouse little girl from liberia.. |

She is so cute. Congrats!
My husband and I are hoping to adopt two children from Liberia soon. We are very involved with refugees from Liberia that are in Senegal and are headed over to see them in two weeks!! It's going to be so hard to leave the kids and come home! |

She looks beautiful! Congratulations! What was the process like for you and can you tell me which agency you went through (you can PM me). We're still at the 'getting started' period and would like to hear what other people have experienced.

Liberia adoption
I am just starting the process of adopting a little girl from Liberia; however, my home study agency has expressed a great concern that I will not be seeing my child before she is escorted. I am going through American Families for African Adoptions. Can anyone shed light on this concern or give me advice?

HI! I am a newcomer to this forum and so excited to find it! We will be welcoming Mary to our family this summer! I am anxious to hear people's personal stories about transitions - Mary is somewhat older between 5 and 6 yo.

I have gotten a strong recommendation from my agency not to travel to Liberia, but to allow an escort to bring her to the US. There are several reasons for this, not the least being the unrest in the country and the primitive conditions caused by many years of civil war. I can give you more details if you want to contact me via pm. [I was in fact given the option to travel due to my past African travel experience, etc. but just today my partner and I reached the difficult decision that in fact, I will NOT go and instead allow an escort to bring her to us.] |

sharing pictures
Here are our two precious children from Liberia, and we also believe the children from Liberia are absolutely great! Our almost 4 year old daughter has been home for a year and a half, and we expect to bring our 8 year old son home in the next couple of months.

I am also in the process of adopting a little girl, age 5 to 6 from Liberia, so I am interested in hearing from you when your adoption is complete. I have another daughter, 2-1/2, and am adopting out of birth order and am wondering about attachment issues, etc.

Have any Canadians adopted from Liberia? Which agencies can help?

I would love to hear how everyone's children are doing! My heart is aching for this country! Just doing research right now. Part of me would not want to go there because of shots needed, Medical too, have asthma-(will I be okay, without air?)
But at the same time, I would want to bring as many suitcases as I could, so I could pack tons of stuff to keep there, at the orphanages. Just looking at your children's faces, I have tears in my eyes! This is so odd, because Africa is the last place I would think I would want to adopt from. I have even looked up "other" countries already. But gosh, there is something special about this place! Okay, i'm starting to ramble! Can't wait to hear from you again, Kerri |
