We received their info packet a couple of months ago. I was very impressed with the amount of information provided and the attention to detail. We have adopted three times from India and are in the process of completing the adoption of our third daughter...we are hoping to use AFAA in the future. I believe they are a very reputable agency. I am also interested in hearing from anyone who has adopted through AFAA...especially their Ethiopia program. Thanks...Karen gkasche@usachoice.net

My husband and I are in the process of adopting a 6 year old girl from Ethiopia. While we were researching agencies we found Americans for African Adoption (AFAA) and Adoption Advocates International (AAI). Cheryl Carter-Shotts from AFAA truly seems to care about the children and the packet is very comprehensive. Ultimately we decided to go with Merrily Rippley from AAI because they responded to our needs in a more timely mannor.

We wanted to adopt a little girl from Africa. While they did respond to my emails in the beginning, the promised information package never arrived. We got our homestudy done and I emailed them again and have received no response till now.
I am sure they are doing great things and are swamped with work. We finally decided to go with PLAN Adoptions Now, Inc. |

j_golda and berchtolde: you are very kind. My thoughts on AFAA are not nearly so generous.
gkatsche: I was impressed with the agency's origins, but from my personal experience, those must have been its brightest moments. kate 17: I hope you found a good agency and are doing well. I'd love to hear how you're doing. |

I too have had a slow response from AFAA... I've sent a number of email .. but in the end had to phone.
All As One - orphanage in Sierra Leone - I'm working through at the moment... The great thing about them is that they reply within 24/48 hrs... which is helpful. info@allasone.org - address it to BJ. I'll have a look at AAI - so thanks for the tip. |
