Self Esteem

This is a thought I had about possible PADS triggers and how it relates to our self esteem.

This question relates to our whole lives, not just post adoption. And NOT including your time dealing with post adoption issues.

As an example, I'll use myself and explain how I determined how to vote.

As an adult (30 yrs old) I have had fantastic self-esteem. HOWEVER, my self esteem has always been affected by others quite easily. I know we all had issues in jr high and possibly high school, but since the issues were grade school and college as well, then it's fair to say I have had a delicate or low self esteem throughout MOST of my life. I did NOT take into consideration the self-esteem issues that accompanied PADS, only the times before and after, as it's PROBABLY safe to assume that anyone who deals with PADS won't have good self-esteem while dealing in those moments of PADS.
Therefore, I voted yes.

Without a doubt! In jr high I was over weight, had to wear glasses, adn came from a single income family with 5 children...in other words, I did not dress like everyone else nor did we have alot.

I battled the weight issue until I was about 26. I ended up losing 100lbs. I met and married DH...everything was GREAT. Then, I had an accident that completely threw my back out and I couldn't work out anymore. Then good old infertility treatments. Of course anyone who has had to deal with that knows that it is not the easiest on your body. Next thing I know, I found that 100lbs again.

My weight has always been an issue, and it has always killedmy self esteem. The one thing is, you HAVE to develop an outstanding personality, and you HAVE to be smart when you are over weight so that people will see that there IS a remarkable intelligent person in there. Perfect example, my sister has been stick thin her whole life...ZERO personality and AIR head because she relies on how she looks. I guess there are draw backs on both sides of the fence.

Over eating is an addiction and like 80% of adictions has its foundation in a mood problem. Have a DR ***** your mood status and then tackle the eating. Dont judge yourself this isnt about that. Underdstand whats happening clarity and insight is the key to getting what you want.
