Do any of you attend adoptive parent support groups? Where do you live? We have one here where I live in Kansas City. My friend and I, who both have open adoptions, attended the support group only once because we were the only two people out of about 12 others who have fully open adoptions and it did not seem as thought the group of adoptive parents were willing to discuss the issues that we felt were important to us.

Does anyone know if there are support groups specifically for adoptive parents in open adoptions??

Our agency has them, and there's a real mix of adoptive families involved. Lots of open, some international (usually closed), some closed domestic. I will pm you.

Our agency has post adoption classes and I have yet (in 2 years) to see one on openness. Or transracial adoption. Or talking to your kids about adoption. They always seem to be on some "random" topic.

If anyone is in MA, I'd love to know if you know of a good adoption support group. I have so many "online" adoptive mom friends, but oddly have none IRL (unless you count my 73 yo MIL...!!).
