we are in the process of adopting a special needs child who is a client of regional center. we applied for the AAP because we are ready to finalize. our social worker said he qualified for regional rates. my understanding is.....the amount is based on the needs of the child, they offered us the amount they would have to pay to keep him in a special needs regional home if he was in foster care. the amount is generous and much needed. good luck

I am in California too. I wonder how you know if the rate the adoption agency is offering your special needs child is fair. We know he qualifies but how do you know for how much?
