Yearly Adoption Subsidy Review
Our state has recently changed their paperwork regarding their yearly subsidy review and I love it! It requires more time on my part to make copies, but all I can say is it's about time.
Not too long ago, it was all over the news that an adopted boy had disappeared TEN years ago and the police just figured it out that he is gone. No trace, nothing! The parents never reported him missing and lied to others as to where he was. Not sure what happened in that case, but hubby and I had many discussions about it. Such as how on earth could the parents keep it a secret that the child was gone. With the medical card being secondary and all the therapy appts, etc., somebody dropped the ball on this case. Not to mention that poor little boy that nobody noticed was even gone. Anyhow, now we are required to attach copies of the kids' school records and/or therapy proving that they still exist. All I can say is it's too late, but about time! ![]() Am curious if any of the other states have done this for children adopted through the foster care system?

SAH - Im glad they made those changes in your state. We haven't seen anything like that where I am (PA). All I get each year for my AS is a new agreement to sign to execute for the next year. Nothing else. They don't require ANY paperwork or proof or anything. Now, I still keep in touch with his workers and they get to see pics of him and his siblings all the time, but that isn't official. I hope more states make these changes!

In NY, I get a letter basically asking if the kids are still with me... but I don't have to show anything.

That's all we do too. I wonder what we would send in if we home school the kids and they don't go to therapy?
