SSI, subsidy, and family income
We are getting ready to negotiate our 12-y-o special needs daughter's subsidy. She currently is in a group home for behavioral reasons & receives both SSI and whatever is paid to the group home.
I was under the impression that SSI is based on the family's income & if you earn over their limit, that the child would no longer qualify until age 18. Is this true? Thanks so much! |

I don't think it is, but I'm no expert. Our youngest dd's former caseworker suggested we apply and she knows what we make. Dd was adopted before any of her special needs became apparent. She now has a list of dx a mile long. Of course we do not have medicaid or any kind of per diem. CW suggested it for when our insurance doesn't pay for all her therapy.
