The Story of our Daughter Mia

It was an unusually nice day in February
I was feeling sorry for myself, no baby
Got a phone call at 4:28 a little girl was born,
She asked, "do you want to make her your own?"

Oh my gosh, what do we do?
Are we prepared to make a life with you?
What am I thinking...this is my Dream
Jesus has a reason for bringing her to me!

Need so many things, so little time
Is this really happening? Soon she'll be mine.
What do we name her? Can't figure it out
When we see you in the hospital we'll pick a name out.

We get to the nursery and the nurse points to your bed
A million things are going through my head
We look inside and see bright beautiful eyes
Her name will be Mia, meaning gift from "God" and "mine"

We fumble with your outfit, you're so fragile so small
We put you in the car and start making calls
Family and friends come over just to see you
They bring outfits, toys and good wishes too!

You're growing so fast I can't believe my eyes
You're constantly smiling and seem very wise
You were officially ours on Tuesday, September four
But I always knew you were ours way, way before

Every night I thank God for your Birthmom and you
This very special person gave me the greatest gift...you
I could never thank her enough and I hope she's assured
the baby she gave me will be loved, rest assured

I've waited so long, we were destined from the start
You're not a child of my body but definitely my heart
Our new little girl gives our lives a new meaning
I still can't believe it, someone pinch me I must be dreaming!
