For My Daughter

4 years ago I made the very difficult choice to give my unborn daughter up for adoption...this is a poem that I wrote for her that she will recieve when she is told who her birth mother is.

I loved you dearly from the moment that I knew
All I ever wanted was what was best for you
You have a special place deep within my heart
And though I couldn't raise you, from there you'll never part
I knew I couldn't care for you the way that you deserved
but still I couldn't let you go...I didn't have the nerve
And then one fateful day, I met your wonderful mother
We spoke our hearts and then I knew she'd love you like no other
And so it was that she became what I couldn't be
With all the love she gave you, she set my heart at ease
Please understand that what I did was because I loved you so
I knew that if I loved you...I had to let you go

How beautiful. Be sure and save this for your daughter when she grows up. I know this isn't true in all cases, but I always knew that my bmom wasn't at a place where she could raise me and I always believed that she gave me to my aparents because she loved me and wanted me to be happy. I'm sure your daughter will feel the same way.

LILSHANTI:
.....from your heart.. I could feel your heart speaking in the words you write for your daughter, and when she reads it for herself she is sure feel it too.
.........how old is your daughter now? Do you any contact with with her a-parents now? I too am a b-mother who was unable to raise my daughter ( 33 years ago), its a journey I would not wish on anyone..It's a long and painful road, but always paved with shades of hope and prayers for GODS embrace upon us all....

Thank you very much, she is 4 1/2 now, and I do have contact with the a-mother, and I get pictures and updates....it is a hard road, but I know in my heart I did the right thing.

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Mind if I print it out and read it on occasion? The love you feel for your daughter is so strongly portrayed in the poem, - it is short and simple, but says so very much.
