I Never Knew How Much I missed You Until I Found You
A phone call just simply isn't enough
when all of the lost time is calculated. I knew that I was missing something, but I never knew that it was you. Often times I thought of the woman who could've given birth to me, but with no picture to put with the face you seemed more like a fairytale. Having two loving parents made it easy to put you out of my mind. But there is something quite unique about the bond of mother and child. Magic happens when the fertilized egg develops into an embryo and the precious new life begins. Seperation cannot erase the knit that was created in the womb. It was only after I found myself that I was able to find you. Now I know what I was missing and it was you. Welcome back Mom. |

What a beautiful tribute to your birthmother.
I would give anything to have my birthdaughter say something like that to me. I found her on 8/10/05. We communicate by email, phone calls, and sometimes by snailmail. She lives in Virginia, while I live in Minnesota. Although she says "Love you." at the end of conversations, I still feel as though it's somewhat generic. I guess it's because she really doesn't say a whole lot about her feelings..like what she wants, or can give in our relationship. I feel fortunate that I have more than a lot of birthmothers have, I really do, but the insecurity on my part is still there. God bless you. God bless your parents and your birthmother. I hope she knows how blessed she is to have you. |

Thank you both for the comments. I read on here somewhere that being reunited is like a roller coaster ride and boy do I agree! After being reunited for a little over a year I've learned that you have to be honest about your feelings without worry of the other person's reactions. This poem is me being honest. It's a journey but I'm enjoying the ride.
