Did you Think of him today
I wrote this for my son's birth mother on his second birthday (one month after we brought him home).
Did you think of him today As he was turning two Did you shed a tear of sadness Or wonder how he grew Did you think of him today And say a little prayer For God to supply a happy home And life without a care Did you think of him today And wonder if he’d know Your love for him was so great That you had to let him go I thought of you today As he was turning two I shed a tear of sadness For what you’re going through I thought of you today And said a little prayer For God to grant His surpassing peace And keep you from despair I thought of you today And wondered if you’d know How much joy you’ve brought to us The blessing you did bestow ~Terrie |

I love that you wrote that poem with your son's birthmom in mind. Thank you for sharing.
Your poem reminds me of a poem I wrote and gave to both my daughters to read when they're older. I posted it on this website too. Here's a copy of the poem I wrote that your poem reminded me of. The Other Mother When you roll over, sit up, take your first steps... I won't be there, But I'll be cheering you on through my thoughts and my prayers. Every year when you have a birthday, I won't be there, but I'll be thinking of you, wondering what you're growing up to be. You will be gone from my sight with your mother and father, but never forgotten or gone from my heart. Whenever you're nervous and afraid, facing hard times and decisions. Just remember I'm there with you in spirit always cheering you on. When your mom tells you she loves you, remember there's another mother out there that loves you too. When you feel alone, remember that I'm there for you in spirit and I pray for you always. But most of all remember, that God is always there for you too. Wow! What Beautiful Poems.
Thanks so much for sharing! Those poems are just beautiful. They made me cry. It's so great for an adoptive Mom to recognize the pain a birth Mother goes through and for you to be so grateful to her for giving you her child.

This is a wonderful poem.My heart just melts reading this poem.I do grieve for birthparents as they must experience pain everyday. They are so courageous choosing their babies happiness over their own.

I always wondered if the things my bio-mom said was true. If she thought about me or not. Your poem to your sons birth mother is beautiful and someday if she ever has the chance to read that she will realize what a wonderful family she has given to her son. And someday she will thank you for thinking about her and her feelings. I wish you and your family all the best.
