Answered Prayers

For years we prayed to God above
Please send a baby for us to love

To be mommy and daddy was our dream
Never to come true or so it seemed

Then one day out of the blue
We found out all about you

Only three and half weeks we had to wait
Finally you came, isn’t God great

I cut the cord, we carried you away
Forever in our arms you will stay

Tears of joy ran down our cheeks
Your little face was so very sweet

Ten little fingers and ten little toes
Eyes of blue and hair of gold

Our hearts just melted when you cried
We couldn’t love you more even if we tried

Now our lives will never be the same

Lots of heartache and lots of pain
All forgotten the day that you came

She gave us a blessing when she gave birth
Please don’t ever question her worth

She is so courageous and oh so strong
I send her pictures of you all year long

Prayers were answered and dreams came true
It all happened when we adopted you

I wrote this to my son, who I love with all my heart and thank God for every day! He will always know he is adopted and that he is a gift from God. I will never take the fact that God and his birthmom gave him to us to love for granted.

that was beautiful. i am adopted and although not in a poetic way has my adopted mom expressed her love for me, i know that what you wrote is what she meant.
