A Thousand Miles

I have been wanting to share this with you for a little while, and yes, I know it's not POETRY...it's a song.....and NO, it's not intentionally about adoption, but when I heard it for the first time, it made me think of the way I feel about my birth family, and I thought maybe others would see that, too???
It's a song that is pretty popular right now, by an artist named Vanessa Carlton, and it's called "A Thousand Miles". Some of you might recognize it...

A Thousand Miles

Makin' my way downtown
walking fast
faces pass
and I'm homebound

Staring blankly ahead
just makin' my way
I'm makin' my way
through the crowd

and I need you
and I miss you
and now I wonder....

If I could fall into the sky
do you think time would pass me by
'cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
if I could just see you.......tonight

It's always times like these
when I think of you
and wonder if you think of me

'cause everything's so wrong
and I don't belong
livin' in your precious memory

'cause I need you
and I miss you
and now I wonder....

If I could fall into the sky
do you think time would pass me by
'cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
if I could just see you.......tonight

and I don't want to let you know
I drown in your memory
I don't want to let this go..........

Makin' my way downtown
walking fast
faces pass
and I'm homebound

Staring balnkly ahead
just makin' my way
I'm making away
through the crowd

and I still need you
and I still miss you
and now, I wonder..............
