I was told by a lawyer here in Indiana that I could get a homestudy done for around $250. That was when I knew a bmom and she said she wanted us to adopt her baby. She used us for what money we could give her and then 'changed her mind about wanting the baby so close to her. I can't remember which lawyer it was that told me that, and I'm tired of phone calls!!! Every agency I've called says the cost ranges from $1200 - $1900. We've been informed of a situation that is due in 2-3 weeks and the bmom is desperate to find a family here in Indiana. We've already talked to DH's boss and he seems to be willing to front us the main chunk of the money, but even with the advance we will still be 3,000 short and the largest chunk of that is the homestudy. I'm sure my mom would help us a little, but I don't think I know anyone that has $3,000 in their pocket just waiting to be used.
