Most states have an incredible number of special needs children available for adoption and foster care. And, to my understanding, the expense for you is little or nothing at all. Most states also offer some form of a financial subsidy to people who adopt special needs children. Check out the following website to get an idea of the children available in each state and what that state requires. Most states will require you to have a completed homestudy and approval in your home state first, then the paperwork can be forwarded to the state you would like to adopt from. The website is www.adopt-usa.org/resources/waitingkids.html
