Another adoption tax question..
My partner and I paid $9000 in adoption expenses in 2010 and have yet to welcome a child. Will we ever be able to claim the credit or must there be an actual adoption process that has started?

If they are qualified adoption expenses you paid in 2010 and the adoption was not finalized, you can claim the adoption credit in the following year. So you may claim the credit on your 2011 tax return.

Remember that there are differences between domestic and international on this issue.
