Forgive me if this has been posted somewhere else, please. I searched for it but didn't come up with anything.

A few months ago, I seem to recall running across some kind of ad for adoption gift cards-- so that your family and friends could give you money toward an adoption instead of gifts. I didn't really think anything of it because at the time, while I was dreaming of adoption, I didn't think it would happen anytime soon. Now, all of a sudden, we're waiting to hear if we've been chosen by a birth mother and we're facing the finances. My sister has offered to give me all of her baby stuff from her kids (which is a TON, we wouldn't be wanting for anything), thank God, so I thought about asking for adoption gift cards in lieu of baby stuff, should anyone want to throw me a shower (or for Christmas/birthday, etc).

Anyway, I can't find these gift cards now. Has anyone heard of them and do you know where I can find them?

I've never heard of these honestly. People may still buy you gifts anyway and if they want to offer money, They will.

I don't think I'd personally go as far as to ask for money instead of gifts at a shower, etc. A lot of people find giving gift cards/money to be impersonal rather than buying a gift so don't be shocked if they ignore it.

i think i remember seeing some gistcards that could be personalized with a photo at walmart or walgreens

The only thing I can think of is a Visa gift card that could be used like regular cc card but it is prepaid. Maybe that would be a giid idea?/
