Hi,

I was adopted at 7 months from Korea in 1975. I'm writing an article for an adoption magazine, and am trying to gather some statistics from parents who adopted children in the mid 1970's through the early 80's.

One of the biggest barriers that prevents people from moving forward with adoption these days is the cost, which can run from several thousand dollars up to tens of thousands.

I'm trying to get an average of what international adoption process fees (application, travel, medical, legal etc.) were in back in the 70's and 80's. I'm not looking for exact figures, but did it cost this much even back then? Many families I know adopted 2, 3, even 4 or more kids in that time period. What made it affordable back then? Most young couples don't have 10, 15, or 20 + thousand dollars expendable income, let alone times 2, 3 or more.
