adoption costs for different countries in South America

I'm a single, and been wanting to adopt for a while, and finances are the only reason why I still haven't. Not sure how people feel about sharing this info publicly, but if you don't feel comfortable, could you please PM me? I just want to have an idea how much are total adoption costs for various countries in Latin America. I googled, but the ranges I get vary widely, and it'd be nice to get some real numbers from real people who went through international adoption.

Thanks a lot in advance!

adoption costs

As you probably know, Guatemala isn't even open right now and who know what costs might be like when (if?) it does. Guatemala's country fees are quite expensive - mine were $19,000 and I suspect they are even higher now.

My homestudy and agency registration were $2k total. The fee to apply with the DHS was $575 and fingerprints were $75. I didn't have much in the way of notary fees but you can pay as much as $20 for each notary stamp. you also have fees to certify each document with the state and the country's consulate.

I have no idea what other countries' fees are but that hopefully that will give you at least a ballpark. It's quite possible that other countries aren't that expensive but I am not aware of too many other South American countries that have programs. maybe Colombia or Brazil? As far as country fees go, Africa is much less expensive.
