What finance factors are looked at?

Does anyone know what personal finance factors are looked at by agencies, etc. during the adoption process?

(Credit score, savings, own v. rent, salary, debt, etc.)

Any hard and fast rules anyone knows about?

Thanks!

Sorry this is late. I adopted from DSS. I had to pay stub and show I was able to support myself without subsidy check.

Our agency did not run a credit report on us, but they asked for the following.

- W-2 from the previous tax year
- Recent pay stub showing we were currently employed
- A worksheet showing our monthly budget expenses vs income
- They wanted to know how we were paying for the adoption
- How much was in our checking/savings account

thanks so much for the replies.. i talked to a local homestudy agency s/w yesterday and she said the same times of things. plus i did a debt/income ratio calculator and learned that things are nearly as bad as i had originally thought! hooray! we're still going to spend a little more time paying off IVF debt just to make it easier when the time comes. thanks
