You can write The President, Vice President and First Lady to express your concern (or Mr. President not to veto the bill) by going to http://www.whitehouse.gov/WH/EOP/html/contact_the_whitehouse.html and submitting an online letter to the president.

Clinton may VETO HR 2614

Here is generally what I wrote in my letter:

-- Dear Mr. President: After a lengthy period of time, the Hope for Children Act was folded into HR 2614, under section 717. The Hope for Children act was intended to provide relief for all families to help them adopt in whatever means best suited their particular situation. Although the original Hope for Children Act was diluted substantially for inclusion into HR 2614, HR 2614 now still remains the ONLY tax relief hope for many adoptive and would be adoptive parents. By vetoing HR 2614, this tax break will be lost.

In 1995, you vetoed another big tax package that also included tax breaks that would have benefited all adoptive families. Your public stance has been that you support adoption, so please demonstrate your support by NOT VETOING HR 2614.

Take action if you feel this is important to you.
