Question Adoption Gift Registries?

I am in the process of completing and adoption of a beautiful pair of sisters age 9 & 11. My friends want to throw me a shower since I am a first time mom. Do any stores have adoption registries?

Are their good adoption announcements for older children? Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this?

Thanks.

I don't know the answer about the registries, but when my family threw an adoption shower for me they asked me what my son needed. I gave them a list and they let everyone know.

I am having portraits taken at Lifetouch and having them make adoption cards for me (very similar to the picture Christmas cards except they say you are adopting).

Although the name of "baby registry" doesn't apply, there isn't any restriction on what you can list on a baby registry - you could add stuff for your girls just fine.

And if somebody wanted to find your registry, when they walk into a store and are given the choice of baby registry or wedding registry... they'll tentatively guess the baby one, and you'll be listed.

There may be a few high-end stores where you have to ask a saleslady to print someone's registry for you, that might be able to title it whatever you want. But places like Target for those basic necessities only have the two choices. It's a pain, so feel free to send a letter to their headquarters! Maybe they'll change it if enough people gripe.

And congrats on your new daughters!

I put my registry in the baby registries for my 7 year old. Hey-she's my baby. Target also has a "Lists" option that you could use if you feel more comfotable with that. A google search for adoption announcements presented lots of viable welcome home options, and some "born:98934 home forever:98734" style announcements as well.

That's interesting, I've never seen that here. Here, when you walk in Target, in customer service there are two registry kiosks. One is decorated white with lace and bells, the other is decorated pink and blue with teddy bears. And that's it for choices!

If you are registering for things to decorate their rooms your could try bed bath and beyond or potterybarn kids. BB&B has an "occasion" registry. There is not adoption option but there is one marked other. Pottery barn kids calls it a baby\kids registry. Toys R Us and Amazon.Com have "wish lists" in addition to the registries.
