Doing all the leg work ourself.
We had our homestudy complete in April & I was going nuts waiting.
So I started looking on the net for children profiles, we are going through DHS in Texas, I met an administrator of the Adoption Coalition. She told me should would keep my name on the list if anything came up and as we were talking something came through on her email. I have been in contact with the social worker of 2 little girls and we've been emailing & she called me once to ask more questions. She is suppose to call me next week and I am so nearvous. She said she had a stack of other homestudies to read. Did I do right by going out and finding her on my own? |

Definitely! You've got to advocate for yourself!

I agree. SWs are so overworked that you're probably actually doing yours a favor by not just sitting back and wating for them to do everything.

We do a lot of the leg work ourselves. I look on the TARE site in Texas and if I find a child or children I think would be a good match for our family I show my husband and then we submit our interest.
