I think its really going to happen!

I am new here, and have posted only a couple of times. My wife and I have been going through the process of adopting a sibling group , brother and sister (12 and 11 years old) since last October. Two months ago we were told that the sibling group was going to be adopted by another family, and we were heart broken. So we continued pushing forward persistently calling our case worker to get our home study finalized so we could adopt and not always be a step ahead of the system. After having our home study come back to us multiple times it was finally finalized two weeks ago!

And, two days before that my wife and I learned that we have a baby on the way that is due in November! And, on the day we learned we were approved we also learned that the Sibling group is still available! We decided to continue to adopt them even though we have a baby on the way. Some say we are crazy

Last Thursday we met them as 'friends of the caseworker' at a play that the little boy was in. And this Saturday we meet them to talk about Adoption and to get to know them.

We are very excited, but also very nervous. We heard that the little boy is excited to see us on Saturday, but the little girl is not too happy about it. So, we are praying for a good visit with both of them.

Good luck on your visit! Adopting older kids is such a gift - both to yourselves and to them! Hopefully the young lady will come around (although I have one this age...and boy, those hormones).
Anyway, I hope it goes very well!

Yesterday we had our first real visit with them and it was great. It exceeded even our best case scenarios that we had imagined. The kids really enjoyed their time with us and it was just so great. We are hoping to be able to meet them sometime this week as well. Our case worker is getting paperwork done so that we can already have visits with them without her present.

We are so excited, and feel so blessed and encouraged that this is certainly the right thing for us to be doing.

Wow, talk about a lot of exctitment! As the mother of a 12 year ld boy (bio) and 11 1/2 yr old girl (adopted at 10), all I can say is good luck! no, really, it is a great age, even if it is challenging. My daughter, especially, is full of drama, so I have to take it all in stride, But really, wonderful wonderful news!
And they wll love having a baby around!
