Welcome to the Older Child Adoption Forum - Non-Special needs

We have an 'Older Child Adoption' Forum under the Special Needs & Attachment Category - but we don't have just a regular forum for Older Child Adoption - and while I do agree, attachment issues are important, they aren't the only aspect of older child adoption!

I hope this forum will be a place of support for the adoptive parents and foster parents who adopted older children!

Hello I am so excited about finding this forum. I am adopting a 13 year old girl. My family doesn't understand what I am going through. It is great to be able to chat with people who are going through the same things. My daughter is great But she is a teenager. I felt the same way as Brandi. I did't want to deal with diapers and being up all night. I felt there was more of a need for older children to be adopted. The babies get adopted quick. Older children just linger in foster care.

Hi Brandy,

I was thrilled to see this forum as we are in the process of adopting a 15 year old (soon to be 16) and are interested in talking to other parents who are in the process of the same. I'm looking forward to learning more!
