Hello Everyone,

We are in the process of adopting twins from Guatemala. I have four other kids and my two year old still likes to ride in the stroller (the others are old enough to walk). I'm hoping that one of the twins will go in the backpack and I can find a double stroller that works well for my two year old and one of the twins, until my two year old is big enough to walk.

Any suggestions on great double stroller?

I'm looking for one that is portable.

My kids are 15 mos apart so I used a double stroller for quite a while and I tried a few. I'm not sure of the name I ended up with but I think it was Graco. What I can tell you for sure is that I tried the side by side and the ones with the seats that are one in front of the other and the side by side ones are very difficult to deal with. It was harder to fold it up and forget about trying to get it in between racks at KidsRUs. ( I have never understood why it does not accur to the designers of the isles in childrens stores why you may need a little more room!)It was also hard to fit in the van, and we had a full sized one. The other one fit well everywhere, folded up nicely and lasted a long time. We also tried one that had a regular seat that folded back with a little bench type seat behind it for an older child. That didn't work well because my daughter kept getting up, even though it had a seat belt. Hope theat helps a little.

I like my side-by-side, but we don't do alot of mall shopping. They are hard to get through narrow aisles. What I've found I like the best, and is great even if you invest in a more expensive model, is 2 umbrella striollers and the connectors. I got them at Babies R Us for $10.00. I like it because I can easily seperate them and either my DH or my older sons can push one. When put together they don't fit through doorways very well though.

I've been doing some research on strollers as I am also going to need double stroller. I've heard great things about the MacLaren side by side although it's a bit pricey. It seems like it's a great option because it will fit through doorways.

I am also considering the Graco Duoglider tandem stroller. I like the fact that it's a little narrower and more inexpensive, but it still seems really long and it's quite a bit heavier than the Maclaren.

I'm pretty sure I will be choosing between these two models---anyone have any advice?

For my tiwns I have the peg perego twin aria - side by side (it's the width of a wheelchair so it SHOULD fit through most doorways etc....) as far as shopping places with clothes on those racks - heck I dont even fit throught them by myself!

I also have 2 kolcraft singles $29 and the connectors - I like them because they are bigger than an umbrella but not the size of a real stroller - they have a canopy and a basket.

I think there is a double front to back one that has a little seat with a belt for a toddler to sit in, that might be just right for you.

Whatever you do, do not get one of the double strollers with the additional sit and stand (for your two year old) in back. We did this for my three oldest when they were all too little walk. That was the most difficult stroller to push. It was way too long and akward and was the cause of much frustration and many backaches.

We have a front and back stroller...Graco I think. And I just bought a side by side double from a friend....Avalon. It's kind of a cushy umbrella type. The front to back is nice because the kids can't beat on each other while in it , but it's heavier and takes up more room in the back of the car. The side by side is lightweight, fits through doors, has two nice size baskets in the back, but Londy and Jeremy like to pull on each other and get upset when one is touching the other's buckles...can't believe that starts at age one!!! For outdoor walking I love my double jogger with the 16" wheels. Nothing beats it for walking in the park, or down the sidewalk. But it's too difficult to fold up for everyday use at the mall.

The best advice I can give you is not to buy anything until everyone is home. Then take everyone and go try it out. I know that with side by sides, if there is a huge weight differential between the kids, the stroller may pull to the one side. But you'd never know that unless you try it out! So be sure to try a bunch and see which works best for you!

I just tested a few models at the store. i was liking the look of the jeep front to back model. But, if you want to put a car seat in it, you have to strap it in and the front seat cupholder has to be removed before it is folded.

I ended up going with the graco duoglider. I tested it yesterday on a walk with our foster girls (ages 2 1/2 and 13 months) and it was pretty easy to push and move around.
