Hiring a private investigator
I have made the leap of faith and hired a PI to find my b-parents. I know I should have done this prior to signing the contract, but I did research their licensure, went to the better business bureau, and read their references. Has anyone heard of Kinsolving Investigations which is in North Carolina? What sold me is that you do not pay unless they find your parents. If it turns out that they are the wrong people, you get a refund and they keep searching Has anyone else done this?

Kinsolving
I used Kinsolving for my search which ended successfully a year ago. I can completely vouch for them.
The search was expensive but Chris Lee delivered everything she promised and asked for no money up front. Listen, I was skeptical as anybody would be when she told me she had FOUND my birthmother and the information would be released to me upon payment of the contract. I was TERRIFIED, actually! But like you, I did check them out with the BBB and I checked their license with the State of NC and everything seemed to be in order. Sure enough, she emailed me all the information the MINUTE she received my payment and followed up with several phone calls to answer any other questions and advise me on making contact. (She does NOT make the contact for you) IMHO, if your birthmother can be found, Chris can find her! My case was very difficult and took longer than usual but she did it. Good luck to you! Hopefully your birthmother will be found quickly. In the meantime, PLEASE prepare yourself for all the emotions of the first contact and hopefully a reunion. Best wishes, Lisalu |

For lisalu
That is so awesome!!!! Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind me asking, how long did your search take? I know you are right about the feelings. I can already feel inside the urge to run, cry and be anxious all at once. I cannot wait until this emotional rollercoaster is over. I am brand new to this site and am excited to begin sharing and reading stories from other adoptees. Peace ?

Hi Sarah. Yes it is a rollercoaster. I don't know how old you are/how long you've searched. I searched for a total of 20 years!
My search with Kinsolving took a long time by their standards - year and a half. My case really was a hard one. It was a private adoption, I had been given some misinformation (which was worse than NO information!), and my mother lives halfway across the country from where I was born. Chris was actually able to get her name pretty quickly but it was finding her that took so long. After 6 months we agreed to close the case because she couldn't locate my mother. But about a year later she got access to some new data bases (as I understand it) and was able to find her. At that point I had resigned myself to the fact that it would never happen. So I was so shocked and surprised when Chris contacted me again and said she had new information! I guess she periodically rechecks unsolved cases for just that reason. Like I said, Chris is good. Basically the only hard information I was able to give her was my city and date of birth. I'm still amazed at how she did it! Feel free to email me any time if you have more questions. I'll be happy to tell you how it all turned out! Lisalu910@yahoo.com |
