helping search

You are very sweet to help your mom find her b-parents but is she ready? Have you discussed this with her? I am 42 and an adoptee and have a daughter that is 21. She has thoughout the years asked me about searching and I am finally in a place that I want to do a search. I am still scared about the outcome but I think I can handle it. Before I just wasn't sure and that's the thing, it's soooooo hard to be sure of the "want" to do this. I've always wanted to know but to do the search and to actually find out.... hmmm that's a hard one and like I said I think (& hope and pray) that I'm okay with this search finally! Ask your mom if she is ready for this ordeal called searching. Now, with that said, you should find out all you can about what she knows and find out all you can about the state she was born and adopted from laws.

See the other forums - (Scroll down the long page for lots of different threads) This may be a better place to put up your facts of the adoption because they have lists of the states where adopted and also the year of birth. It may help in the search to have info on those pages. Also those pages have people that know all the laws for a particular state that may help your mom out a lot.

Just remember to talk to your mom first about this - if it's just a thing that you want to do for your mom as a suprise - please don't surprise her that way. Surprise her with the idea of you helping her in any way that she wants. If she is the one that asked you to help, then go for it and good luck in your search!!!

Tina
