Colorado article on partial opening of records

Story regarding Colorado - some records are open based on a court case and others are closed. The story is well done. Comments are quite a mixed bag but there is one on their who has give a new name for adoptees who wish to search...ZEALOTS...me thinks he may have something to hide...

Colorado court pulls the curtain back on adoption records - The Denver Post

Kind regards,

I married a Zealot!??? GASP! snort.... He happened to be one of the lucky ones born between those years and could access his records this fall.

I'm really interested to see if the courts will open up the rest of the records after seeing how many just from this time period have gone ahead and opened them.

Crick,

I thought your hubby was one of them but could not remember. Colorado officially has 500 ZEALOTS...so far and it hasn't been very long has it?

Will Zealot be a new nickname for hubby???

Take care,
Dickons

Zealot Here!

I am one of the "lucky" adoptees that was born in the period of time that was opened up, and one of the 500 that has already requested and received my birth information. While it was after the fact, I was finally able to lay eyes on my OBC, one without lies on it. (I had already reunited with both birth parents by the time this case was decided back on 4/16/09). The records were opened in June, at least that was when they were able to get he papers together to request items. The state sent me 2 OBCs, one with my bmom's alias added to her name, and my OBC with both bparents names not amended along with the final adoption decree, that was it. I know of others that have several hundred pages of information from this, don't know if there is more or if I will have to go to the adoption agency to get any more of my information.

May seem strange to others, but having this one piece of paper has meant the world to me.

Black - Was your OBC in the state papers they gave you? Dh's OBC wasn't in that so just wondering if it's something special he would have to request?
