Made Front Page

Wow! The story I am involved in made the front page of the Trenton Times... The whole article isn't available on-line yet, but you can see the first part -- it's on the left hand side and starts with -- Elaine Penn, 45..

Elaine - That's so cool! Looking forward to reading the whole article. Keep hoping that someone in congress will read this and think "HUH? This is ridiculous that she can't get a passport and all else that is involved!" and get the wheels moving towards progress.

hard to say -- it's a public website -- all you have to do it google her name - yet, the quotes from it are kinda disturbing.... but they are her quotes...

Elaine - I read "Her" website. I don't know about the rest of your medical history, but I think there might be some mental illness there. I just can't help but feel sorry for someone so steeped in bitterness! I can't help but think you were very lucky to be adopted into another family!

Elaine,

The notion that you are just a biological source..the result of rape needs to be diminshed. The fact you are an innocent person in all this needs more attention. The comment implying that you are "ambushing" elderly woman is rubbish and inflammatory. Those are the comments that will stop anything fromn going foward and only further the folks that don't want open records for their selfish reasons.

I am certian that there are NO adoptees looking for revenge.....the revenge is coming from bmoms and aparents that won't allow a person who is adoptyed to know about themselves completly....

The reporter and I didn't speak about the website. I don't know if he even knew about it at the time we spoke -- he didn't mention it at all. I've known about the website, but because it's so vile, I haven't really spoken about it.

One of my odd reactions when I read the article was my desire to reach out to my maternal 1/2 sisters and say, "I didn't tell the reporter about the website, I swear!" Of course, I didn't because they don't want contact. I have no idea if they knew about it before.... or even now...

None of her quotes were new to me, so they didn't pack a punch at all. I am actually relieved that I believe what I said was fairly represented.... The only thing that he may have misinterpreted is that I don't think I said 'all adoptees feel'.... I'm really careful about not saying 'all' of anything... Of course, I have no idea what 'all adoptees' feel.... But other than that, I really don't have a complaint. I am actually relieved that someone finally said something about my side. Her husband went uncountered in front of the senate, went on CBS-NY without my side (even though a reporter did speak to me then, too).... Their report in the philly paper over the summer - nothing from my side... AND, I'm very easy to find. I would think that any NJ adoptee rights group could find me or give someone a lead how to find me.... I mean, jeez, I put a response in the paper to counter another one of her husband's rants - with my real name and town on it.... There were at least 3 reporters that totally dropped the ball...

....or were scared off...

As a Bmom who would LOVE to find her 34 yr old daughter, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I keep praying and hoping that we will open the records or have a better system in place so that we all can find our parents or children.
