I received a call yesterday from Catholic Charities regarding the search for my birth mother. Back in 2000 they contacted me on behalf of my birth mother who was searching for me. At the time I declined contact due to the actions of a meddling well intentioned spouse. That's all water under the bridge though.

My wife got the message and was hopeful that they had good news. I told her that they were going to close my case before I returned the call. They started searching a year ago after I paid them $300.00. The first case worker never kept me informed about anything while the second one was a bit more communicative. Well the long and the short is that they sent letters to all of the leads that they had and haven't received any responses so they closed the case as I had predicted.

Being out of work limits a lot of my options where money is concerned.

My birthday is coming up next month and I had hoped for a birthday present but I suppose that isn't going to happen. I'm just tired of waiting and having my life put on hold the way that happens when you are in the process of a search.

I'm so sorry...if she wanted contact why can't they just give you her name? If she wanted contact why can't they find her now? What is their excuse? Did they outline where and how they looked?

Well I got my official case closed letter from CC today. It was very well written for a form letter. I only know that it was a form letter because it started out
Dear john

BUT later it said

Terrance, I know that this yadda yadda yadda

She couldn't even get the right names in both places on the form letter. I sent an e-mail pointing it out but stopped short of questioning how much effort that they put into the search.

As I said I am tired and utterly fed up with the whole situation.
