Denied over DNA

Canadian sues the BC Cancer Agency for human rights violation. Very interesting case. Her doctor wants her tested due to meds she needs to be on for RA but the meds increases her risk for certain cancers. Then she is denied coverage for the tests because she has no family history to justify testing...

Denied over DNA

Will it never end? Or can this case finally make enough waves to turn the tide?

Kind regards,
Dickons

I wonder how the insurance company denied that test with a straight face? I mean seriously? "We know you don't have access to your medical history and can't do anything about that but we have rules to follow so if there's no genetic history (which again, we know you don't have) we have to deny your test."

Of course the easy answer to all of this is to open the records but apparently that's just too easy.

Sigh.

I will be looking for the outcome in this case. Very annoying seeing as BC has open records but she had the misfortune of being born in MB...

And then there are the opponents of open records who suggest instead we be proactive on preventative measures...yah that works...

Kind regards,
Dickons

I was going to say -- in BC this isnt an issue. I live here ...I would know. Dumb dumb dumb beaurocratic stupidity.
