Next Tuesday I'll be on the plane on my way to meet my birthmother for the first time!
I'm sooo excited, obviously nervous as well. We talk once a week on the phone but I have no idea what I will say to her in person!
My a/p's know (well knew) my b/g so I'm staying with her for the six days I'm over there. Talk about awkward....

For Christmas I bought my bmom a photo album and I'm going to copy a ton of pictures of me from the time I was a baby to now and give it to her. I'm excited to see her reaction.

Any advice at all? I feel as though I'll be a nervous wreck, especially the first night.

I am so excited for you, I am a firstmom and dream of the day I can maybe meet my twin sons. The best advice I can give is of simplicity...Be YOU! Don't try to be someone you think she would want you to be. It is important that as firstmoms, we get to see that our children are happy healthy and confident. These are after all the things we intended for you, OUR children. Do not expect too much, because this truly is the beginning of a relationship that should be for a lifetime. One does not want to get too overwhelmed. One day at a time! I know she will love you just as you are, to not be your natural self will only lead to more pretense down the road. I will quit ranting, I will tell you one last thing.......BE HAPPY and enjoy...life is way too short! Happy Holidays!

I'm trying not to get so stressed about the bad weather so I can "be happy and enjoy" like you said. I'm actually more nervous about flight delays at the moment than actually meeting her!! lol But I'm sure that will change once I'm on the plane.
