I am doing the "adopted dance". One step toward discovery, and to the beat of your heart, two steps toward fear of the unknown.
Does anyone know, in the state of Nebraska, can a biological family member search for an adoptee? I can't find this information no matter where I look and it all appears to be set up for a search initiated by the reliquished party. Would hiring a private agent give access to records if law states they are not otherwise available to anyone but the adoptee? I am the reliquished party in this case, and kind of wondered if that is a reason why biological parents never found me. I read somewhere a while back that it might be. Any information would help greatly!! Thanks a million in advance! ![]()

Thank you for the link, it doesn't exactly give me what I was hoping for, but it did put me in touch with some biological parents who are looking for their reliquished children. I am hopeful that they will respond to me and tell me if their searches are aided by the agency that placed their children or if the state is willing to help them since their children are now adults in my age group and also born in NE. I really want to know if a biological parent can do more in their search than give consent to the release of their information. Thank you for your help!!

My birth mother actually found me - not the other way around.
Some things that you can do to make it easier if someone from your biological family is searching are to authorize the release of the information to any interested parties. I sent notarized consent letters to the adoption agency to that effect - both from myself and from my adoptive parents. I also registered with a lot of search registries. I actually gave up my own search many years ago, but all of that information i had put out there eventually paid off. My b-mother found one of the registries and contacted the adoption agency to verify the information. They were able to give her an address - which even though i had moved, did lead her to finding me - over 10 years after i had given up. Good luck in your search! |

Hideyho....
I am a Firstmom in search for my 22 yr old twin sons, to my knowledge, (which is not vast)
....I have always read and heard only Firstparents& adoptees can search...maybe in some cases at a certain age, if firstparents are deceased, a sibling. I hired a C.I. and she told me I can search and put in writing to her, in the event I should die before they are found, my son who is 29 (their half brother) can recieve the info. I do not know if Ne. has C.I., but could be a thought, the cost is very reasonable...at least in my case(Az.) Good Luck...keep posting , your journey may be of help to others....![]() |
