I was told when I began looking.. (I asked the people at the adoption agency) I needed to fill out a bunch of paperwork basically saying that if my birth mother wanted contact with me, I would allow it. But they wouldnt be able to contact her. She would have to contact the adoption agency herself, trying to find me. I was also told there was a fee.

There is also a place on here that you can put in all your information, and if she happens to search for you.. there you are Vice/versa, you might check to see if she is on here already..

I was also contacted by a lady, who offered to help me look. She knew what she was doing, at the time I just didn't take her up on her offer... I don't remember much about that, but there may be other memebers who know something. If I can remember I think they're called search angels or something like it...

I was found on myspace..

I don't know if I was much help to you, but good luck on your search, don't loose heart, it can take time.

goodmorning hon.write a ketter to hospital where you were born tell them as much as you know eg your birthdate your birthmom name if you know it if you adopted through an agency write to them also for non idenifying information.go to your local library for death notices if you have a name because they will list next of kin.i did this and was blown away by the names i found.look in phone books.the post office have books for different cities.apply for your adoption order from the courts.i dont know where you live but i live in ont canada and i got mine.in on that gave me my first and last birth name and the judges name.it all helps.then start making calls emails and letters.i pray this helps you and i wish you nothing but the best.goodluck my dear.

I'd google her name, check this site for her, check Bastard Nation for her to see if she is searching. Then I'd post your name here and any information you may have. Best of luck to you.

I checked city directories from the time I was born for my family name. At that time, the household was listed, so I had not only my Mom's name, but granparents, as well as some aunts/uncles and one set of great-grandparents. (last name wasn't common, and there were only 2 families in Indy listed)

After that, I checked for marriage licenses online, classmates.com for high schools, property records, and ancestry.com for obits. Once I had a name, it took my less than 24 hours to build a nice family history.

nana - I just meant by vice/versa that if you already have some of your birthparents information, or you can simply search your own information. Birthparents can put all that information on this website too.

Thanks everyone!!

I was a private adoption. So, no agency...only a lawyer to fill out the proper paperwork!

Here is the info I know...if anyone is able to help me! Her name was Brenda Stokes. I was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on 1/8/82.

Please let me know if you guys don't think it's ok to post it!

At peoplefinders.com there are at least 4 Brenda Stokes who live in AR. The records only cost a few dollars to buy, I would suggest purchasing the list & making some phone calls. No advice on what to say in the calls (except DON'T "Is your mother Brenda Stokes? Then I must be your sister!), maybe someone who has had direct contact with their birthparents can help you there. I had a confidential intermediary, which made things much easier, unfortunately I know that's not typically the case.

Smile g's registry

if you post on g's adoption registry.com they have search angels for each state and they work as teams and they will help it is a free site. Also adopteeconnect.com is a good one to register on and also this one of course. Having her name is great, if you know what year she graduated you might be able to check out classmates and narrow it down to her high school. If I can look it up on classmates for you let me know, I am a member.best wishes

What I wouldn't give to have the information that you have. You should be able to narrow it down quickly with the suggestions that you have been given. Best of luck
