X-post - passport requirements
Hi all!
We are applying for passports for our family - both boys are adopted, so neither have their OBC's, just the advised ones from after the adoption... Have any of you had problems getting a passport since you didn't have an "OBC"? What steps, if any, did you have to take? Thanks! |

I had no issues getting my passport. I may not have my OBC, but I do have an official, legal bc, as I imagine most do. I would HOPE that since your kids are children, they won't have a problem.

thanks tx -
I was just reading through the rules, and there was tons of stuff about needing it to be dated within a year of birth, and ours isn't...I was hoping it would be easy!!! |

Have you called the passport office? I'm sure this has to be a situation they have seen before. Sorry it's so complicated.

You just need a legal birth certificate. It doesn't have to be the one that was created the day they were actually born, the one you "created" when you adopted them works just fine.
My "non-original" BC and my Korean-born friends all use their BCs from post adoption and we've never had a problem. |
