Proud to be an American...
While I don't feel superior or think I'm the cat's bag because I am an American, I am proud to be one. I love this country, faults and all.
What makes you proud to be an American?

Like you, in no way do I feel at all 'superior'. But having been outside the U.S. a bit makes me realize how great this place can be. The freedom to NOT have to always fit in (as if I could) makes me pretty darn happy to be here. It isn't like that everywhere. And the food here's pretty good, too ![]() |

As the parent to one adopted from China, I'm excited for the freedoms my son will experience growing up in America. While our country isn't perfect, it makes me proud that we are able to live, grow our family and worship as we wish.

Proud to be American, yet confused...
I am proud to be an American. As an American we have freedom and rights - but obviously not enough. Looking through all of the posts on this sight, I can't believe that there are an enormous number of people who are searching to find their heritage, their birthparents, their children, and answers to fundamental questions - such as family medical histories.
It saddens me that as an adult American we are dealing with these questions and are not privy to information about ourselves and our families. I have lineage papers going back several generations on my dog for heaven's sake! Something must be done. I believe that our own records should be made available to us as American adults. It is our right to know. |
