Hi,

There is a very active forum on yesterdays show about the birth father in Oregon whose daughter is being adopted and he does not have any rights.

An adoptees point of view is missing and should be heard. The forum is under 2008 Shows / April 30.

I'm an adoptee and I believe that sealed adoption should be ILLEGAL! I think it's "LEGAL, MENTAL ABUSE!" the minute that "A" word is uttered I am ENRAGED and my blood pressure is high enough for a stroke!

I think the birth father has EVERY right to his biological child! I also think that every child has the right to know who thier parents are! This a CRUEL practice!

I live in Illinois and talked face to face with our Governor about this. He was signing bill into law to increase the medical benefits for veterans. When he came dow the receiving line afterwards I was in there. I was suddenly face to face with the GOVERNOR! I couldn't tell him who I was, I blurted out, "Governor Blagojevich, would you PLEASE do SOMETHING about the sealed adoptions in Illinois!" I told him it was not right when I'm WAY over 18 and don't need protecting anymore. there are medical histories on birth mother/fathers sides of the families and I don't know anything about myself! What if I get involved with a brother or my father?! (Seriously, it has happened with brother/sister and they got married and had children! The govt.THEN annuled the marriage!)
I asked, "can you PLEASE answer one question please, why is NOT OKAY for me to know MY BIOLOGICAL PARENTS, but it's OKAY TO KNOW WHO PRESIDENT CLINTON SLEEPS WITH?!" THAT IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS, NOR THAT OF THE PEOPLE OF THIS STATE AND COUNTRY!" He turned to his right hand man and he took info from me. He wanted to help, but offered help I already knew about.
I felt SO relieved I spoke to him and proud of myself my feelings were heard!
I think you have the right! Can you talk to an atty. (free consultation) and get legal counsel about your rights?! All states are different. Some states adoptees can know @ 18+!!!! NOT ILLINOIS!
Please let me know! I caught part of Dr, Phil that day and had an errand and missed it!
How do you snoop without a name for birthparents?! Without a name I'm LOST!
