Unhappy it's almost my Birthday DOB 11-27-74

Please help me find my Birthmom it is almost my Birthday and I am so sad I don't even know if she thinks about me. I was born in Memphis Tn. on 11-27-74 I was a little over 7 pounds and 19" long. I am 5'8" tall so my birthmom may be tall or my Birthdad.
I don't want to upset any lives I just want to know some health history. I don't have alot of info. All I know is she was around 16 years old and unmarried. Please help me find my Birthmom. It would really make this Birthday wonderful as I have wondered for 28 years if she even thought about me.

I dont understand...In Tennessee dont you have access to adoption records after the age 21? (effectice July 1, 1996...retro to March 16, 1951) Have you not been able to access your file? Check with the department that controls the Contact Veto registry..

Also, non identifying info is available at the age of 18...

Good Luck

:-)

I felt compelled to respond, because, like you, my birthday is ALWAYS a big time for thinking about my birthmother. I always thought that this HAD to be the ONE DAY of the ENTIRE year that, as I was sitting here - thinking of her -- she was somewhere, out there, thinking back.
My birthday is in October, and this year, I was doing the "usual"...sifting thru all of the sites where I have posted over the years, hoping against hope that I would find her there "waiting for me" to find her.
Instead, I stumbled across a website about the Confidential Intermediary program in my state. For those lucky enough to be born AFTER 1993, records in my state can be unsealed after the age of 21 -- but for those of us born before then, there is really only one way to see that all illusive information....at that is to go thru the Confidential Intermediary program. You must first register with the state adoption registry -- which I had done MANY years ago. If there is no one there, registered, that matches your information, you can contact an intermediary, who will act on your behalf, in filing and petitioning for your records.
And that is just what I did! :-)
On the Sunday evening before my birthday, I chose a name from the intermediaries listed on the website. I e-mailed her, and within two days, I was holding the forms to file in my hand. We have since filed with the court system, who in turn, files with the Attorney General's office.....the Attorney General approves the appointment of the intermediary, and then, ultimately, the courts turn over my records to the intermediary. THAT is where we are today....just over a month from the time I started the process, my intermediary is picking up my files TODAY!
I'll never forget the e-mail she sent me on my birthday -- the subject line was "HAPPY BIRTHDAY", and inside, she said she had filed the initial paperwork ON my actual birthday! It was SO cool!!! :-)
I believe it was the best gift I have ever given myself!
Of course, it comes with a price tag.....filing costs and intermediary services. It has cost me about $400....BUT, it is far cheaper than a private investigator, and most of those "you too can find anyone" websites....and, it's legal. It's part of the state, and it just feels more "legit" than going after someone with a private eye - at least to me.
Yes, I am somewhat bitter that the state is STILL holding my information hostage. My intermediary has my records, but I am not allowed access to them until she locates my birthmother and has her written consent to do so -- and if, for some reason, she is not in a "place" in her life where she can adjust to the shock of my search, and she denies access, those records, that I paid $400 for, will go right back in the files and will be sealed away again.....I will never even get to see the folder -- let alone the information it contains. That is a chance I am willing to take, however.
My intermediary has done over 100 searches, and she has only been unable to locate three people.....because they used bogus information when they checked into the hospital. She said 5% deny contact. I am hoping to beat the odds.
Happy Birthday -- and I wish you all the luck in the world!
Sally

Second paragraph......hope it helps...

Confidentiality
All records of the adoption shall be placed under seal and opened only upon a court order. A new birth certificate is issued upon adoption and the original birth certificate is then placed under seal with the other adoption papers and shall not be released for inspection except upon a court order.

Upon request of the adoptive parents or the adoptee, who is 18 years of age or older, nonidentifying information may be released about the adoptee and the adoptee's biological family. If the adoptee, who is 21 years of age or older, requests identifying information about the biological parents, then the Department of Human Services shall locate the parents and find out if they consent to such release. If they do not consent, then no information will be released. If the biological parents cannot be located, the office of Vital Records may release the original birth certificate.

If one sibling 18 years or older has been adopted and either that sibling or another sibling 18 years or older has requested information or expressed a desire to be reunited with the other sibling, then if the other sibling has previously given or currently upon request gives a release to the Department, the Department will release identifying information.

IN SEARCH OF ADOPTEE

Do you know what hospital you were born at? Or the agency that handled the adoption? Do you have any information on the birthmom's name?

I am asking these questions because I gave up a child for adoption after giving birth at St. Joseph's Hospital at Memphis, Tn. I was drugged immediately upon arrival at the hospital, so I don't remember if the child was born in the evening hours of 11/26/74 or early morning hours of 11/27/74. I was not allowed to see the child, so I don't know if it was a girl or a boy. I was not allowed to ask any questions, period.

I have been searching for 28 years to find this child. Please email me at dstone80@hotmail.com or contact a moderator. I have spent the last 28 Thanksgivings remembering. It's just not something you ever forget.

Good luck with your search. I have posted notices on the State Board here and the Year Boards if you have any other questions about me.

And by the way, Happy Birthday!

You are such a fake! You twisted your lies making me think I was your birthmom and put my whole family though your mental illness. You are a very sick person and I won't ever forget what you did to us! I'm in shock that they allow this posting on here considering who all you lied to because I found out I wasn't the only one you played your little game with.

Angry Your Still On Here? Omg!

If you say you are adopted and you really want to find your birthmom - then why did you use this forum to scam so many women into thinking they were your birthmom. Were you wanting money - looking for that easy way to provide for yourself without working.

I am really surprised this forum allows you to continue to have priviledges on here. You contacted me through an email listing of sweetangel and stated you lived in Houston, Texas. You even called me on the telephone, but you would never give me your phone number stating that you were "borrowing" someone else's telephone. Then you had the nerve to convince me in Yahoo messenger that you were actually in labor! You even sent me pictures of a young child you claimed to be yours and a pregnant blonde woman that you claimed to be yourself!

What did you hope to accomplish and how are you getting away with all of this - I'll never know. But I do know this - your not who you say you are and someday, you will be blocked from your true birthmom's life forever, which is exactly what you deserve.

But, now I have another senario about who you really are. I think your an adoptive mother of a grown daughter who is looking for her birthmom and you can't deal with it. So you are purposely messing with us birthmom's who are on here being sincere about finding our "children"....YES, I said "our" children.

You can't prevent that from happening - trust that!
