Homeland Security and the Texas ABC

I was having some issues with my birth certificate, so I called the state of Texas and talked to someone in their Adoption Unit. During our conversation, she said, “Many adoptees have been having issues with Homeland Security because their adoptive parents elected not to list the hospital where they born. We’re now reissuing those birth certificates upon request with that required information”.

So, if you were born in Texas and your ABC doesn’t list a hospital and you don’t know which one it is but would like to, the state of Texas may help you out!

This may be true for other states too…so it’d be worth a call!

Brandy,
If we know our hospital then how do we get a new ABC with the hospital listed? Do we just send a request for a new BC?

Call and talk to someone at their customer service number and ask...I think all 'long form' ABC's ordered now will have the hospital...but I can't be 100% sure.

My ABC has the hospital listed...(It was optional at adoption years ago and my aparents opted for it) so I didn't ask how one would order if you WANTED the ABC to list it...

Sorry..

That OK I'll find out. I got to order my OBC anyway.
