Begining the search

Hi,
I'm 17 and I'm going to be 18 in March. I was wondering if anyone knew the steps I would need to take to obtain my original birth records? I hope to at least get my birth mother's name so that I can try to find her. Thnak you ahead of time for any help.

It depends on the state or province in which you live. I got things started here in Ontario, Canada by requesting a true copy of my birth record. Since it had been changed upon adoption, it was not available to me but they told me how to get things going. Call your state or provincial birth records office.

sunnybunz056 please don't take this as negative feed back but just something you may need to think about;

My oldest boy who is 20 now has been in contact with me over a year now, he was raised by my mom and i was not allowed to have contact.

he was spoiled had everything he ever wanted or needed. I however after his brother was adopted i tried to move on. I did however continue to have more children.

1. he was very angry that i gave him and his brother up but kept my other children.
2.very overwhelming when he did meet his siblings. kinda shyed away,
3.because my mom raised him my relationship has gone south and really i want no more contact with her but because of him I will.

somethings may not pertain to you but keep things in mind. Arew you physically ready for the contact. I know in my heart my son who was 19 at the time was not, still very bitter but working through it.

if there was an agency that offilated your adoption you could go through them, would your aparents know something?

jan
