After finding out, at the age of 49, that I was adopted as a newborn, I have spent the past year searching for my biological family. That search is now over. I have been in contact with my mother and 3 of my 4 siblings. They have literally been waiting for me to make contact with them for the past 32 years (since I was 18). Unfortunately, I can't get out to see them until the end of October, but if anyone out there is disheartened with their search efforts, DON'T GIVE UP! I will let all of you wonderful know how things turn out.

westhawk, how wonderful for you and your bfamily! I searched and found my bfamily after forty years; I have been in reunion for two years now, and consider it one of the most greatest blessings! Thankyou for your kind words and sentiment, for many of us adoptees who are searching the interim is most difficult. Hearing stories such as yours provides us with hope! Thankyou!

Congraulations!! Westhawk,
I was told that my daughter would contact me once she was 18 and I actually phoned the agency a day or two after her bday, asking to have my phone number passed onto her. duh! I found her on her 33rd bday. Its true what you say,Don't give up. Writing letter's to your family could be a very good way to start your relationship. I wish you all the best to come. Sincerely Carmel

Congratulations and good luck! I'm very happy for you! I'm sure the revelation and subsequent search were quite an experience for you. I hope you write to tell us about your reunion. Bob

I think it's great that you have such a positive out look on finding out late in life about your adoption. I found out I was adopted when I was 28 and now I'm 45 and just becoming curious about my biological family. I would like to chat with you and find out more about how you felt about finding out about your adoption late in your adulthood.

I think it's great that you have a positive outlook on finding your biological parents. I'm curious as to how you felt when you found out about your adoption when you were an adult. I found out I was adopted when I was 28 and now I am 44 and just getting curious about my biological family. Up to now I have not had the desire to find out. I just wonder why I would feel this way.
