Someone suggest that I give this a try, so here I am.
I was adopted when I was 6 weeks old. My parents and adopted brother (not bio) are wonderful, and after 40 years on this Earth, I feel like I've been blessed and I've really never had a hole inside me, yearning to be filled. I don't remember when my parents told me the truth. I feel like I've always known. But sometimes I wonder, does someone else have a nose like this? Are they looking for me too? Sometimes it would be nice to have some medical history. Anyway, I have no idea what I am doing, and I don't know where to start. I'm completely overwhelmed by this website and don't even know where to begin. Can anyone help me get started? What are my next steps? How can I use this website? |

Welcome to the forum!! There is a great bunch of people here who are so willing to be supportive and to help anyway they can!
Do you have any info concerning your adoption? A birth name etc? Have you requested your non identifying information? What are some of the things you have tried? I would like very much to help you. Snuffie |

Hi snuffie. Thanks for the quick reply.
I really don't have any information regarding my adoption except the agency that coordinated it. I know the name of the hospital and city, but that's pretty much it. Not much to go on huh? This post was the first thing I've done, so I really haven't tried anything yet. At least I started, finally, after thinking about it all these years. I did some searches tonight and found ISRR and I registered on another site I found, but that's it. What is "non identifying" information? |

You could start by contacting the agency that coordinated your adoption and requesting your non identifying information. This is information telling a little about your birth parents. For instance, mine gave a description of my bmom and the circumstances of my being placed for adoption. It usually has all identifying information "blacked" out. But sometimes it will offer some clues for you. In my case some of it was accurate some was not.
Also, some states have an adoption record search program and they will act as an intermediary. They do the search and find out if our bparents would give permission for contact or even to find out medical information. I think I would start with the agency and see how much they can help you. I think I read on some other posts that sometimes hospitals will give out a list of all births on a certain day. Maybe someone else would have some ideas on this. If I can be of any help at all or if you just need someone to "talk" to please private message me. To do that just click on quick links above and go to private messages. I wish you much luck and happiness in your search and reunion. Snuffie |

Barbara,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm still new to this bb. Is there a way to set up my profile so it automatically attaches to the bottom of my posts? Or do I need to do that manually each time? female 9/5/64 Marion, Ohio |
