Have name! How do you find them?

.......Hello all,

I'm happy to report after filing for my newly opened Birth records, I have a birth mom name. On the other hand, after searching every internet tool I know of for Labrador,Newfoundland Canada, I've failed to locate her. I've located possibly 50 something people that may be her. Fully realizing that a full 40 years has interceded since my birth, it's quite possible whoever she is, she might have totally new family circumstances, and I'm sort of leary of charging into 50 something families and opening cans of old family worms(lol). Does anyone have any suggestions on any search I may have over looked? I'm open to all suggestions. I'm trying to be as disceet as possible. But I'm nervous that I know I'm getting old, so I know the longer I wait, the less chance I'll ever get to find her.

Thanks

Responding to Danny Toro

If your mother is in Newfoundland / Labrador then call this radio station and see if they will help you VOCM1-709-758-3456. It might not be too discreet, as they may want to air your story. But a phone call can't hurt. Also I want to thank you for your information as I have already been in touch with a USAF gentleman who served in the right time frame, he is not the adoptee's father but he is the one who told me about the radio station and since his wife is from St. John's has been speaking with her family too, to see what they may be able to find out. I pray that you will have all your questions answered soon. Good Luck.

Thanks guys

..Gheez, I completely overlooked Post-adoption services. Thanks Bertha, I sent them an e-mail to find out what they could do. Flossie I'm glad the USAF info helped, USAF folks are usually top notch and very willing to help. I'm not to keen about the Radio station. My boss and his wife want me to go on Montel Williams(lol- not what I had in mind either), but I will keep it for a last ditch effort. I think I've found her relatives, and I think I'll take a plunge and contact one of(gosh this sounds so strange) those I think is my Aunt. I also fear my info is too late. But I'll follow through to make sure.

OMG!

OMG!!!!..I took the plunge and in one call found 7 brothers and sisters who have been looking for me for 12 years! Sadly I was right about mom, she passed away in Dec.4th 1994. I also learned I have a 90 year old Grandma and I'm hoping too get there in the spring to meet her. I've talked to two sisters, both who were freaking out in joy(like me lol). The second sis(my younger one) has offered to chaperon my trip to Cartwright(cause like me she was blown away from coming from a three people family to a mob of loving relatives-LOL)! OMG! Then second sis told me to not delay getting my LIA card, I'm inuit! Thanks Bertha for sending that email! Your suggestion paid out royally!I had no idea how prophetic that first call home would turn out! Thanks everybody!

Hi Bertha

.......Yeahup, I'm still not believing it. And I better snap out of it as the oldest said she was calling again in the next hour. I've got to go home and find some not-to-cheesy pictures to e-mail for them. Don't want to scare them off right away(lol). Adopted mom seemed to have mixed reactions when I told her. I'll have to watch that closely, I do still love her and will never stop supporting her in any way. I wondered if she thought I'd run off to Canada. I think she might be forgetting I own my own home, love it very much, and have my wifes family too(well some of them anyway). Sorry about the Montel, but I am a Williams now, maybe me and him are related! haha...just kidding...I'll keep you guys up to date

hi darren

thats really good news.your adopted mom must have mixed feelings about all of this but she must of done a great job in raising you for you seem not to be jugemental of people and have an open mind and heart she can be proud of that.as for running off to canada once you get to go to labrador im sure you will become a great caribou hunter haha it will be an amazing time discovering your heritage.

wELL....

....My new big sis told the relatives I was found. Grandma was overjoyed and big sis prodded her to spill the beans about my birth father! And what is stunning me to no end is that they are all chipping in to bring Gilbert home. I really don't know what to do. I have the means to get myself there, but I'm thinking if I turn them down it would offend them. Big Sis already bristled at the notion of me going to the motel. She quickly slayed that notion. She has five kids, I didn't want to impose.

Cool wow

darren

you are on a roll for sure now you have your birth fathers name as well?maybe more siblings in the mix!!!you need few more dont you think!!!as for everyone chipping in to bring gilbert home people from nfld&lab are the kindest most friendly people in the country thats a fact.if they can help anyone they will give you the shirt of their backs.thats just the way they are.so if thats what they want to do then let them they found something that they thought was lost forever and want to bring you home its just the way they are.you will learn this soon enough you come from good people theres no doubt about it .they will make you feel at home for sure and why not your going home.by the way i never asked where do you live in the states?this is their way of bringing their own home and dont think your are imposing on them they wouldnt have it any other way im sure. take care

Got Dad's name

.....too! And they are actually doing a chart of all my relatives past and present so I'll have some kind of idea of who is who. It was funny listening to big sis talking away and mentioning somebody and suddenly saying, omg your their (insert relationship)! She did it so many times I could not register it(lol). And I think I've been the subject of a minor communal interest and humor. Sort of a "have ya found Gilbert yet?" thing. Big sis says the whole town is buzzing now. My wife was totally blown away and happy too. We talked into the wee hours last night. I'm down in South Georgia BTW..I never thought it possible, but I do not think I can handle much more good news. I feel way deep down the knowledge I'll never meet my birth mom or dad, but everything that is happening has just totally blown that away. I feel that will probably register later. It's a very foreign feeling....
