I hope to have the right info fo those who are dealing with adoption in wash. dc.. I'm an adoptee and I have been to the court house, and the dc public affairs office (adoption agency main branch) which is down town off of pennsylvania ave nw
near the smithsonnian museums. The main Building holds adoption records as farr back as 64. If your agency no longer assist. this is where anyone can find or locate hopefully national info anywere in the united states. If your records are not there someone at there office should be able to give you somekind of lead. I also went to the DC Child Support Clearinghouse to file for my adoption decree, and motion for my records to be open.
I think starting in 2005 you will have to write to them at
P.O. Box 37715 Washington DC 20013 - 7715 because they are cracjing down on walk ins. I don't think they have a web site.
